A magical introduction to the symphony

February 13, 2017

Members of Guelph Symphony Orchestra perform 1001 Arabian Nights at River Run Centre Saturday, February 25

GUELPH, ON February 13, 2017 – Members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra will take audiences on a magical journey during fun-filled, kid-friendly performances of 1001 Arabian Nights at River Run Centre on Saturday, February 25, at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The performances are presented in Co-operators Hall as part of the Wooly Kinderconcerts series.

Wooly Kinderconcerts introduce children aged five and under to the rich variety of instruments and sounds of the symphony. Members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra play samplings of works by great composers, which provide the soundtrack to fun, interactive stories. Kinderconcerts are hands-on experiences children learn from and remember.

In 1001 Arabian Nights, exotic music played on the cello, oboe, bassoon and viola whisks the audience away to the land of Aladdin’s lamp, Sinbad the Sailor and magic carpet rides. Featuring music from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, Tchaikovsky’s Arabian and Ravel’s Bolero, 1001 Arabian Nights is a performance that will prove every preschooler is a classical music fan waiting to blossom.

Tickets to see 1001 Arabian Nights cost $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors and $11 for children 14 and under. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID. Please note that everyone attending this performance must have a ticket, including infants and children. Tickets can be purchased at River Run Centre box office, 35 Woolwich St. in Guelph, by calling 519-763-3000, or online at riverrun.ca/1001-arabian-nights.
