An Evening with Robert Bateman – Artist, Naturalist and Conservationist

September 19, 2017

Join internationally acclaimed artist Robert Bateman on Wednesday October 25, 2017 at 8 pm on a journey across the seven regions of Canada and see through his eyes the beauty of our country. River Run Centre continues to celebrate Canada 150th through the presentation of an iconic Canadian artist.

With a desire to truly know the place he calls home, Bateman has spent his life painting the Canadian landscape. From the historic eastern shores to the cold endless north and the luscious west coast, he shows us the land that has captivated artists and nature lovers for decades. Full of paintings from every region in Canada, Robert Bateman’s Canada celebrates the history, diversity, and natural wonder of our country. This is Robert Bateman’s vision of Canada as you’ve never seen it before.

Having three educational institutions named after him, his work included in 14 museum collections and over 25 solo exhibitions under his belt, it is no surprise Bateman has received countless awards and acknowledges for his advocacy of conservation including the Officer of the Order of Canada (1984), the Governor General’s Award for Conservation (1987) and two Queen’s Jubliee Awards (1977/2002).

“I can’t conceive of anything being more varied and rich and handsome than the planet Earth. And its crowning beauty is the natural world. I want to soak it up, to understand it as well as I can, and to absorb it. And then I’d like to put it together and express it in my paintings. This is the way I want to dedicate my work,” proclaims Robert Bateman.

Become a part of Bateman’s journey to celebrate Canada. Following the lecture and Q&A period, audience members are invited for a special Meet & Greet with the artist in Canada Company Hall at River Run Centre. Bateman will be showcasing his new book, Robert Bateman’s Canada as well as providing autographs. If you already own a piece of Bateman’s work, a book or photograph you are welcome to bring this with you for signing. Please limit size of items.
