Celebrated folk trio performs at River Run Centre Friday, February 24

GUELPH, ON February 9, 2017 – Trent Severn will showcase “Canadian history in harmony” when the acclaimed folk trio performs at River Run Centre on Friday, February 24, at 8 p.m. The Co-operators Hall performance is presented as part of the Borealis Music Series.

The members of Trent Severn – Dayna Manning, Emm Gryner and Lindsay Schindler – perform beautifully crafted songs that continue the poetic legacy of pioneering Canadian songwriters including Gordon Lightfoot, Stompin’ Tom Connors and Ian and Sylvia Tyson. Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2012, Trent Severn has won over fans from coast to coast.

“With songs that extol the virtuous beauty of Canada’s natural landscape, odes to the colourfully unique characters of the nation’s past and present, and a true passion for telling stories about their home and native land, Trent Severn has become an important emotional and cultural touchstone,” Music Life Magazine said in a review.

Two-time Canadian Folk Music Award nominees, Trent Severn’s songs possess a lyrical depth that sets the trio apart. Their most recent album, Trillium, sees Manning, Gryner and Schindler pay homage to their home province of Ontario.

“There is something to be said for coming home after living elsewhere for a number of years,” Manning says. “I travelled a lot and lived out west for a while and came back to live in my hometown of Stratford. I feel like I live in paradise every day.”

Trent Severn’s third album, Portage, is scheduled for release in April.

Trent Severn’s music has taken the group on unexpected adventures, including watching the Canadian Forces Snowbirds demonstration team fly to their song Freedom, serenading International Space Station Commander Col. Chris Hadfield and performing the national anthem during a Canada Day flag raising on Parliament Hill.

With songs about trains, small-town charms, Canadian personalities and even a maple syrup heist, Trent Severn shares stories about the goodness and beauty of our nation. Their performance will see audience members share a patriotic laugh and have their glowing hearts melt away.

Tickets to see Trent Severn cost $29 for adults and $27 for seniors and students. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID.
