Internationally acclaimed musical by Navdhara India Dance Theatre performed at River Run Centre Saturday, December 2

GUELPH, ON November 16, 2017 – The colourful culture of India will come alive on stage when the internationally acclaimed musical A Passage to Bollywood by Navdhara India Dance Theatre arrives at River Run Centre on Saturday, December 2, at 8 p.m. The Main Stage performance is presented as part of the RBC Showcase Series.

Featuring toe-tapping music, colourful costumes and a gripping plot, A Passage to Bollywood brings audiences into the world of Indian culture. A vibrant production featuring drama, action, romance and dance, it’s an authentic and unforgettable experience guaranteed to dazzle.

A Passage to Bollywood tells the story of a young village boy who moves to the big city of Mumbai, India. A classic Bollywood tale of love and friendship, the musical follows his journey in the city, focusing on the relationships he builds over time with the woman of his dreams and a friend who takes him under his wing. Including classics as well as the latest Bollywood songs, A Passage to Bollywood showcases the artistry of classical and modern Indian dance and highlights traditional values and customs.

Navdhara India Dance Theatre is a contemporary dance company based in Mumbai. Founded by Indian-Australian choreographer Ashley Lobo, the company was established with the aim of helping young dancers from India channel their creative energies and provide them a platform to perform. Combining Indian and Western dance philosophies, Navdhara India Dance Theatre presents performances that are neither entirely Eastern or Western, but completely universal.

All guests joining us for the spectacular presentation of A Passage to Bollywood are welcome to participate in an exclusive VIP Experience at 7 pm in Canada Company Hall. Members of the Navdhara Indian Dance Theatre will be conducting a FREE instructional demonstration of the art of Bollywood dance. Experience firsthand the creative vibrancy of this contemporary mix of Indian tradition and Western dazzle.

Tickets to see A Passage to Bollywood cost $42 for adults, $40 for seniors and students, and $25 for children 14 and under. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID.
