Proud to showcase Guelph’s youth

River Run Centre, the Guelph Youth Council of the City of Guelph and TD Bank Group team up each spring to offer MusicWorks|StageWorks, an exciting and unique hands-on performing arts mentorship program focused on the art of putting on a professional-style show.

Who can apply
All youth, ages 13 to 19, interested in gaining new skills and taking part in a public performance are invited to apply. All content in performances must be suitable for a family-friendly audience. The program is inclusive of music, theatre, spoken word, dance, short film and comedy.

How to apply
Applications are accepted online at riverrun.ca/MWSWapply. Opening of applications will be announced in January. Applications limited. Sign up for our In The Spotlight E-news to hear the latest River Run news including show listings, programs, perks and more!

Selection Process
A jury comprised of members of Guelph Youth Council and River Run staff will assess the applications and determine the program and line-up of performers. As this is a hands-on learning opportunity, priority will be given to first-time applicants.

What will you learn
River Run technical, programming and marketing staff will work with two teams of students. Participants will learn about the various aspects of building a successful show such as staging, flow, self-promotion, transitions and professionalism. A performance coach will also assist youth with stage presence and microphone technique.

Location
Rehearsals and performances will take place at River Run Centre in the Co-operators Hall.

Rehearsal and Performance Schedule
Each performer or performing group is required to commit to three dates as posted by River Run Centre (after school hours and evenings) which will include;

Day 1: mentoring and technical rehearsal
Day 2: mentoring and dress rehearsal
Day 3: free public performance
