Mentorship program hosts free performances for National Youth Week

April 26, 2017, Guelph, ON – Guelph’s youth performers will showcase their talents in two different shows at River Run Centre on May 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. during National Youth Week. The shows are part of MusicWorks|StageWorks, a mentorship program presented by River Run Centre in partnership with Guelph Youth Council and sponsored by TD Bank Group. Now in its fifth year, the program offers youth, real-life experience in putting on a professional-style show, from concept development to performance. The two evening performances showcase close to 50 performers, from 21 different schools.

Members of River Run’s technical, programming and promotional staff have been working with participants in preparation for the shows. As part of the process, the performers learn the essential elements of producing a show, such as, staging, flow, self-promotion, transitions and sound checks.

“We are always impressed by the level of talent and professionalism these youth performers demonstrate,” says Danna Evans, General Manager of Culture, Tourism and Community Investment for the City of Guelph. “They’ve worked hard in preparation for these shows and we are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity with the support of TD Bank Group.”

Admission is free to each performance. Seating is general and on a first come basis.
