‘A Whole New World’ brings memorable movie scores to life

Experience the musical magic of Alan Menken at the River Run Centre

GUELPH, ON November 28, 2019 – Experience the iconic music of Alan Menken – master songwriter of Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas and Little Shop of Horrors – during A Whole New World: The Musical Magic of Alan Menken at River Run Centre on Friday, December 13, at 8 p.m. The Main Stage performance is presented as part of River Run Centre’s Showcase Series.

A powerful musical documentary-style show featuring singers from Broadway, London’s West End and Stratford, A Whole New World illustrates how Menken’s music led to a new world of animated characters, stories and films. The performance features hits including Be Our Guest, Part of Your World, Friend Like Me, Under the Sea, Colors of the Wind, Go the Distance, Suddenly Seymour and, of course, A Whole New World.

“Alan Menken has composed some of the most beloved songs and musical scores of our time,” the Songwriters Hall of Fame says of Menken.

A Whole New World: The Musical Magic of Alan Menken features veteran stage performers including Adrian Marchuk (Jersey Boys, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz), Thom Allison (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Miss Saigon, Killjoys), Elena Juatco (Kinky Boots, Jann) and Evangelia Kambites (Billy Elliot, Little Shop of Horrors). The production features musical direction by Scott Christian and musical arrangements by Chris Tsujiuchi.

A Whole New World: The Musical Magic of Alan Menken is one of four musical documentary concert shows conceived and directed by Marchuk that take audiences inside the lives of the greatest composers of Broadway and Hollywood. Marchuk’s other productions include Any Dream Will Do: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber; The Sweetest Sounds: The Richard Rodgers Legacy; and Over the Rainbow: The Harold Arlen Story. A Whole New World: The Musical Magic of Alan Menken is produced by Marchuk and Brian Goldenberg.

Tickets to see A Whole New World: The Musical Magic of Alan Menken cost $49 for adults, $47 for seniors and $29 for those under 30, including children.
