Adrian Raso, Gavino Loche, and Paul Pigat Blend Styles and Bend Genres

October 23, 2025

GUELPH, ON October 23, 2025 — Guitar lovers are in for a real treat with this show, where not one, not two, but three guitar virtuosos come together for a night of musical mastery. Adrian Raso, Gavino Loche, and Paul Pigat will each play a solo set, followed by a set together. Supported by returning Season Sponsor Richardson Wealth, this show is part of River Run Centre’s new Idols of String series. The tremendously talented trio plays the Studio Theatre on Friday, November 21 at 8 p.m.

Adrian Raso is a native Guelphite whose guitar playing is as stylish and distinctive as the well-cut suits he wears. He blends various musical styles — jazz and rockabilly, Latin grooves and Balkan brass, Italian folk and funk, country and classical, soul and surf — to create something that is completely his own. As Deering Banjos reviewed, “Adrian’s work is a fine example of the balance between commercially accepted music that is also readily embraced by the technically minded musician.”

Gavino Loche is the only non-Canadian of the trio, hailing from Italy. Loche’s performances frequently garner an astonished “How does he do that?” from his audience — his guitar-playing almost seems to be a sleight of hand. He combines tapping, percussive sounds, and incredible fingerstyle arrangements, and the striking result sounds like two guitarists rather than one. As explained by Offbeat Magazine, “Loche’s solo performances sound like two really good guitarists playing together.”

Paul Pigat is from Vancouver and has made a name for himself internationally. In Europe, he is known as the “Motorhead of Rockabilly” for his specific style described as “hot-rod rockabilly crossed with country blues and spiced up with bebop jazz.” He calls his alter ego Cousin Harley, which captures the wild persona he embodies during his live performances. In the words of Exclaim!: “Pigat has a somewhat gruff, yet authentic voice, one sometimes employed in a talking blues style, but it is his always fluent and versatile guitar work that especially catches the ear.”

With three individual sets from internationally renowned guitarists — and a group set to bring down the house — this show promises excellent musicianship and is not to be missed for fans of guitar from any genre.
