Iconic Canadian songstress performs at River Run Centre February 23

GUELPH, ON February 8, 2019 – Holly Cole never fails to perform with passion, style and grace. The iconic Canadian songstress presents an emotionally stirring evening of music when she takes the stage at River Run Centre on Saturday, February 23, at 8 p.m. The Main Stage performance is presented as part of the Richardson GMP Music Series.

Cole has created music within the realms of jazz and pop during a celebrated three-decade career, with her unique presentation and compelling interpretations of well-known songs lauded as sophisticated, original and witty. A passionate live performer, Cole will present a diverse selection of music during her River Run Centre performance.

“Her voice is expressive in the extreme,” Stereophile magazine said of Cole. “She has taste in material that is both adventurous and impeccable.”

Cole’s latest recording, Holly, met rave reviews upon its release in 2018, with Jazz Times magazine noting, “Cole’s unique sound, at once sweet and salty, is as intoxicating as ever.”

Cole has produced 17 recordings, among them the gold and platinum albums Romantically Helpless (2000), Dark Dear Heart (1997), Temptation (1995), Don’t Smoke in Bed (1993), Blame It on My Youth (1992) and Girl Talk (1990). Among Cole’s other musical works is the 2012 album Night, a diverse collection of songs that pay tribute to the power and possibility of the night.

Cole’s celebrated career has included performances around the world and accolades including the Montreal Jazz Festival’s Ella Fitzgerald Award, presented to an artist who has had a major impact and influence on the international music scene. Cole is also the winner of two Juno Awards, in the Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and Best Contemporary Jazz Album categories.
