Members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra perform Jack and the Beanstalk at River Run Centre Saturday, November 5

GUELPH, ON October 24, 2016 – Children’s appreciation of classical music will grow during fun-filled, interactive performances of Jack and the Beanstalk at River Run Centre on Saturday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra will perform the classic tale in Co-operators Hall as part of the Wooly Kinderconcerts series.

River Run’s kid-friendly Wooly Kinderconcerts introduce children aged five and under to the rich variety of instruments and sounds of the symphony. Members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra play samplings of works by great composers, which provide the soundtrack to fun, interactive stories. Kinderconcerts are hands-on experiences children learn from and remember.

In Jack and the Beanstalk, notes on the flute, horn, violin, harp and piano ascend as Jack makes his climb up the fabled beanstalk in an attempt to save precious instruments from a giant who lives in the sky. Featuring works by Edvard Grieg, Antonín Dvořák, Sergei Prokofiev and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, it’s a performance that will prove every preschooler is a classical music fan waiting to blossom.

Tickets to see Jack and the Beanstalk cost $15 for adults, $13 for students and seniors and $11 for children 14 and under. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID. Please note that everyone attending this performance must have a ticket including infants and children. Tickets can be purchased at River Run Centre box office, 35 Woolwich St. in Guelph, by calling 519-763-3000, or online at
