Canadian R&B royalty featured at River Run Centre

Jully Black and Jarvis Church perform on Main Stage October 29

GUELPH, ON October 15, 2015 – River Run Centre will host Canadian music royalty when the nation’s Queen of R&B and King of Soul take the stage for a not-to-be-missed double bill performance. Jully Black and Jarvis Church will perform on the Main Stage Thursday, October 29, at 8 p.m. as part of the Richardson GMP Music Series presented by River Run Centre.

Black’s unique and powerful vocals have won her countless fans around the world. A platinum-selling recording artist and winner of multiple Juno Awards, she has performed alongside artists including Elton John, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z and The Black Eyed Peas. Known as “Canada’s Queen of R&B,” Black counts Etta James and Tina Turner among her influences.

A Grammy-nominated and Juno Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer, Church first rose to fame with R&B-pop group The Philosopher Kings during the 1990s and went on to a successful solo career. He will showcase smooth sounds from his solo catalogue, including the songs of Sam Cooke, during his River Run Centre performance. Church’s credits include the 2002 album Shake it Off, 2008’s The Long Way Home and 2012’s The Soul Station Vol. 1: The Songs of Sam Cooke, A Tribute.

Black’s credits also include performing for Queen Elizabeth II and as a headline act at Canada Day celebrations in London, England. Her charismatic personality and engaging presence help create a personal connection with audiences, leaving fans inspired, entertained and awe-struck. As well as being an accomplished singer, Church co-produced Nelly Furtado’s 2001 debut album Whoa, Nelly! and received a Grammy nomination for his work on the record. He also co-wrote and co-produced Canadian-Somalian rapper K’naan’s first two recordings.

Tickets to see Jully Black and Jarvis Church start at $39 for adults and $37 for seniors. $20 uGO tickets are available for university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available for high school students with valid ID.
