GUELPH, ON  November 8, 2018 – Carl Dixon’s powerful vocals, musical artistry and stage presence have kept him at the forefront of the Canadian rock scene for three decades. The renowned member of bands including The Guess Who, April Wine and Coney Hatch takes the stage for a solo acoustic performance during A Night with Carl Dixon at River Run Centre on Friday, November 23 at 8 p.m. The Co-operators Hall performance is presented as part of the Borealis Music Series.

Dixon recently released his debut country album, Whole ’Nother Thing, a selection of raw and honest songs that offer a new direction for one of Canada’s most respected musicians. Dixon’s celebrated career has seen him as lead singer of the iconic Canadian band The Guess Who, record and tour with April Wine and display his prolific songwriting talents as a member of the legendary Canadian rock ’n’ roll band Coney Hatch. He has toured with heavy metal icons including Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Triumph and Ted Nugent.

Dixon takes musical inspiration from diverse artists including The Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, Grand Funk Railroad, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. An early love of music crystallized his desire to pursue a career that has seen him perform with some of rock’s most celebrated bands. “For me, being a musician… was always about trying to re-create that thrill that great music gave to me,” Dixon says.

In addition to his work as a musician, Dixon is an inspirational speaker, sharing his story of recovery following a devastating 2008 car crash in Australia. The accident saw Dixon hospitalized for five months and undergo years of rehabilitation. A remarkable comeback led him to publish the 2015 book Strange Way to Live and fulfill his goal of returning to The Guess Who for two special concerts in 2016.
