Experience familiar classics through a fresh lens
GUELPH, ON October 16, 2025 — Fans of The Beatles are in for a big treat with this delightful tribute by Guelph Symphony Orchestra (GSO), conducted by Adam Johnson and featuring talented musicians from University of Guelph’s Industry Ensemble. This musical collaboration brings the timeless classics of the Fab Four to life. Part of Sleeman-Spring Mill Music Series, Symphony and Steel: The Best of The Beatles comes to River Run Centre’s Main Stage on Saturday, November 8 at 8 p.m.
This spectacular ode to The Beatles is hosted by GSO and features the Industry Ensemble, a group made up of outstanding students from U of G’s School of Music who are trained in professional performance and taught business skills essential to the music industry.
Catherine Molina, GSO’s General Manager, shares the motivation behind the show: “The music of The Beatles appeals to fans across generations. We wanted to create a show where the timelessness of The Beatles meets the grandeur of a full orchestra, and we are thrilled to feature the emerging artists of the University of Guelph’s Industry Ensemble.”
Symphony and Steel also presents the Pamati Children’s Choir, directed by Dr. Irene Gregorio. This newly formed Guelph-based choir features children aged 5-14. The evening also features a surprise vocalist who will join GSO for a few pieces.
This is an exciting year for GSO as it celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season. The conductor of this show, Adam Johnson, is also celebrating a milestone — two years as GSO’s Musical Director. Johnson has been hailed as “an exciting talent” and for his “charismatic and commanding presence” on the podium. This will no doubt be in full force as he conducts Symphony and Steel. From “All You Need is Love” to “Hey Jude,” audiences will get to relive Beatlemania through a completely new sound.
This unforgettable show is supported by Series Sponsors Sleeman Breweries and Spring Mill Distillery, River Run’s Season Sponsor Richardson Wealth, and funding from the Government of Canada.
