Introducing kids to sounds of the symphony

October 23, 2015

Goldilocks performed November 7 as part of Wooly Kinderconcerts

GUELPH, ON October 23, 2015 – Get to know members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra as they share the story of Goldilocks during special kid-friendly performances on Saturday, November 7, at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Goldilocks will take place in Co-operators Hall as part of Wooly Kinderconcerts presented by River Run Centre.

The Guelph Symphony Orchestra’s Kinderconcerts introduce children aged five and under to the instruments and sounds of the symphony. Members of the orchestra play samplings of works by great composers, which provide the soundtrack for fun, interactive stories. Kinderconcerts are hands-on experiences kids are sure to remember.

In Goldilocks and the Three Bears, kids play along with the orchestra as they share in the musical tale of a mischievous little girl who likes everything to be “just right.” A fun-filled, action-packed, narrated musical adventure, Goldilocks stars the string family: the violin, viola, cello and double bass. Just like the three bears in the classic story, kids learn that musical instruments come in different shapes and sizes.

Featuring well-known tunes by composers Edvard Grieg and Gaetano Donizetti, Goldilocks is a performance that will prove every preschooler is a classical music fan waiting to blossom.

Tickets to see Goldilocks cost $14 for adults and $11 for children 14 and under. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID. Please note that everyone attending this performance must have a ticket, including infants and children. Tickets can be purchased at River Run Centre box office, 35 Woolwich St. in Guelph, by calling 519-763-3000, or online at riverrun.ca/goldilocks.
