Powerful, poignant, soulful storytelling
GUELPH, ON November 6, 2025 — JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter Elisapie is in a league of her own — her captivating music and commanding presence resonate with fans across Canada and beyond. Part of Miijidaa Music Series, sponsored by Miijidaa Café + Bistro, Elisapie takes River Run Centre’s Main Stage on Saturday, November 29 at 8 p.m.
Elisapie is an artist of many mediums — musician, broadcaster, documentary filmmaker, activist, and actress. She approaches each of these endeavours with energy and dedication. Elisapie’s creative journey is fueled and inspired by her deep, unconditional attachment to her territory and her language. She is widely admired for this devotion to her heritage. In 2024, she was celebrated with a Canada Post stamp as one of the country’s foremost “Indigenous Leaders.”
It all began with Elisapie’s love for music. She started performing onstage as a teenager, with her uncles who were in a famous Inuit rock band, Sugluk. She moved to Montreal to pursue her musical passion and since then, her work has always integrated Inuit themes and rock music.
In 2005, Elisapie won her first JUNO with her band at the time, Taima, for Aboriginal Recording of the Year. Since then, she has released several solo albums, including 2023’s Inuktitut which earned the artist her second JUNO for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year. Inuktitut was also shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize in 2024.
The album features a collection of covers from the 1960s-90s, all sung in Elisapie’s first language, Inuktitut. The eclectic mix includes covers of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, “The Unforgiven” by Metallica, “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd, and “Heart of Glass” by Blondie.
Performing with renowned musicians from the Montreal indie and folk scenes, Elisapie makes her culture resonate with finesse by mixing modernity and tradition. This show is supported by River Run’s returning Season Sponsor, Richardson Wealth, funding from the Government of Canada, Ontario Arts Council, and SOCAN.
Tickets to Elisapie are $49 for adults, $47 for patrons over 60, and $29 for those under 30 years old. Subscribe & Save 20% when you buy tickets to four or more shows.
