Jake and Elwood hit the stage in The Official Blues Brothers™ Revue

October 7, 2014

Guelph, ON October 7, 2014 – Fans of Jake and Elwood Blues will not want to miss The Official Blues Brothers™ Revue when it comes to River Run Centre’s Main Stage for the opening of the RBC Showcase Series on Sunday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. The Chicago Sun Times says the performance delivers “infectious and unbridled energy… it blows the roof off.”

Produced by Dan Aykroyd, Judith Belushi, and Music Director Paul Shaffer, The Official Blues Brothers™ Revue is the only officially sanctioned North American Blues Brothers act. It captures the music, dancing, comedy and banter of fictional characters Jake and Elwood Blues, originally created by Saturday Night Live cast members Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. The Blues Brothers made their debut as musical guests on Saturday Night Live in 1978. In 1980 they released a feature film. Despite the untimely death of founding member John Belushi in 1982, the Blues Brothers act has remained a mainstay of pop culture, winning more fans with each new generation.

The Official Blues Brothers Revue stars performers Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty. Discovered in Las Vegas, Catania and Lafferty capture the infectious humour and unbridled spirit of the Blues Brothers like no one else since John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd walked the stage. The show is backed by a powerhouse band that showcases all the classic hits from the Blues Brothers catalogue, including Soul Man, Rubber Biscuit, Sweet Home Chicago, and more.

Catania is an accomplished musician, actor, and creative writer with a career spanning four decades. In the late 1970s, Wayne’s resemblance to John Belushi opened the door to showcasing his own formidable acting and musical talents on stage and onscreen. As a character actor, he was cast in numerous feature films, television shows, and international advertising campaigns.

Kieron Lafferty is an actor, writer and musician from Toronto. He started his career as a singer songwriter, playing the club circuit where he gained a solid reputation for his soulful vocals and melodic harmonica lines. Lafferty received critical acclaim for his CDs Boomtown and Seven Sisters. He’s had acting roles in film, TV and stage productions. He has also written music scores for several independent and documentary films.
