James Keelaghan brings songwriting skills, powerful voice to River Run Centre

Renowned performer featured in Co-operators Hall Friday, January 15

GUELPH, ON January 4, 2016 – During a career spanning 25 years, James Keelaghan has staked a rightful claim as poet laureate of the folk and roots music world. He will bring his unique songwriting talents and powerful voice to River Run Centre’s Co-operators Hall on Friday, January 15, at 8 p.m. as part of the Borealis Music Series presented by River Run Centre.

A skilled singer-songwriter and guitarist with an insatiable appetite for finding unique stories to inspire his work, Keelaghan approaches creating music with curiosity, passion and intensity. The Juno Award winner and three-time Juno nominee has won critical acclaim for his powerful delivery, moving lyrics and commanding stage presence.

“He develops an intimate rapport with audiences through his stories and sense of humour and then leaves them spellbound with passionate renditions of songs that touch on universal emotions,” CBC Music said in a profile of Keelaghan.

A distinctive and recognized voice both in Canada and around the world, Keelaghan has performed in countries including the U.S., England, Denmark, Hong Kong and Australia. His catalogue of recordings has earned him respect from both music fans and his songwriting peers. Keelaghan’s most recent release, History: The First 25 Years, is a retrospective of his quarter century making music.

Tickets to see James Keelaghan cost $28 for adults and $26 for seniors. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID.
