Joel Plaskett set to rock the stage

Canadian musical veteran performs with The Emergency at River Run Centre Friday, April 29

GUELPH, ON April 14, 2016 – After two decades making music, Nova Scotia’s Joel Plaskett continues writing meaningful songs that resonate with audiences across the nation. The Canadian rock veteran will perform with his band, The Emergency, on River Run Centre’s Main Stage Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m. as part of the Richardson GMP Music Series.

A Juno Award winner, Plaskett is considered one of the most innovative and prolific artists in Canadian music. During a 20-year career, he’s won admiration from coast to coast for his unique style, outstanding songwriting and electric performances.

Plaskett is on tour in support of his critically acclaimed ninth album, The Park Avenue Sobriety Test, nominated for a 2016 Juno Award in the adult alternative album of the year category. It’s the latest in a series of recent accolades for Plaskett, who was also nominated for 2016 East Coast Music Awards in the producer of the year and fans’ choice entertainer of the year categories.

Since beginning his career as a member of the Halifax-based alternative rock band Thrush Hermit, Plaskett has become well-versed in a variety of styles including blues, folk, rock, country and pop. Along with The Emergency, he has toured North America and Europe, sharing the stage with Canadian music greats including The Tragically Hip, Sloan and Kathleen Edwards.

Plaskett’s show will feature selections from The Park Avenue Sobriety Test, an album that showcases his abilities in styles ranging from solo acoustic music to guitar rock. Plaskett’s lyrical talents shine throughout, in songs that touch on topics ranging from memories of growing up in Nova Scotia to the challenges of the modern-day world.

Tickets to see Joel Plaskett with The Emergency start at $39 for adults and $37 for seniors. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID.
