Journey to the Old West with Cirque Éloize’s Saloon

October 1, 2018

Acrobatic, musical performance staged at River Run Centre Sunday, October 14

GUELPH, ON October 1, 2018 – Experience an acrobatic musical performance inspired by the heritage of the Old West when Cirque Éloize’s Saloon arrives at River Run Centre on Sunday, October 14, at 7 p.m. The Main Stage performance is presented as part of the Wooly Pub Family Series.

Saloon takes audiences back in time to the era of American expansion, when the railroad was under construction and new settlements were emerging on the Western frontier. In the middle of the desert, a town comes to life and a saloon opens its doors. The saloon soon becomes a place to gather and share stories, a theatre where colourful characters come to life as part of exhilarating, spectacular performances.

“Saloon is the physical energy of acrobatics combined with the poetry of a theatrical approach – a touch of comedy and the musical roots of our childhood come to life,” says Jeannot Painchaud, Cirque Éloize’s president and artistic director.

Montreal-based Cirque Éloize has been creating moving, magical performances since 1993. With 15 original productions to its credit, the company has presented more than 5,500 shows in 50 countries.

Featuring the infectious energy of music by artists including Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash, as well as the American classic songs Golden Slippers, Cotton-Eyed Joe and Will the Circle Be Unbroken, Cirque Éloize’s Saloon offers thrills, humour and music that invites the audience into a rollicking frontier party.

“The inspiration for this show comes from what has been our driving force for nearly 25 years,” Painchaud says. “We share the frontier spirit of cutting new trails and pushing boldly onward, lightened by a touch of irreverence and a sense of sharing and community.”
