Members of Guelph Symphony Orchestra take inspiration from classic tale in kid-friendly performances April 9 at River Run Centre

GUELPH, ON March 29, 2016 – Members of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra will take their inspiration from a classic tale during kid-friendly performances of Three Fabulous Little Pigs at River Run Centre on Saturday, April 9, at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The performances take place in the intimate setting of Co-operators Hall and are presented as part of the Wooly Kinderconcerts series.

Wooly Kinderconcerts introduce children aged five and under to the rich variety of instruments and sounds of the symphony. Members of the orchestra play samplings of works by great composers, which provide the soundtrack for fun, interactive stories. Kinderconcerts are hands-on experiences kids learn from and remember.

In Three Fabulous Little Pigs, orchestra brass players will huff and puff the score to the popular story on their instruments, following the Three Little Pigs as they run from house to house in their attempts to avoid the dreaded Big, Bad Wolf. It’s a story that proves the value of hard work, not to mention quality construction.

Featuring trumpet, trombone, tuba and French horn, Three Fabulous Little Pigs will include works by George Gershwin, Fats Waller and Sergei Prokofiev. With gifted classical musicians presenting a kid-friendly performance, Three Fabulous Little Pigs will prove every preschooler is a classical music fan waiting to blossom.

Tickets to see Three Fabulous Little Pigs cost $14 for adults and $11 for children 14 and under. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID. Please note that everyone attending this performance must have a ticket, including infants and children. Tickets can be purchased at River Run Centre box office, 35 Woolwich St. in Guelph, by calling 519-763-3000, or online at riverrun.ca/three-fabulous-little-pigs.
