Limited seating for show by pop music powerhouse Chantal Kreviazuk

March 26, 2015

Guelph, ON March 26, 2015 – Tickets are moving quickly for Chantal Kreviazuk’s upcoming engagement at River Run Centre. The multi-JUNO Award-winning songstress and newly minted Member of the Order of Canada will play the Main Stage on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 8 p.m. as part of the Richardson GMP Music Series. Fans can look forward to an evening of Kreviazuk’s signature piano-driven pop sound and formidable collection of chart-topping tunes, including “God Made Me”, “Leaving on a Jet Plane” and “Feels Like Home”.

Kreviazuk’s tour marks a return to the stage for the Manitoba native and classically trained pianist, who first burst on to the Canadian music scene in 1997 with her debut album, Under These Rocks and Stones. In recent years Kreviazuk has gained major credibility as a songwriter, penning works for hit-makers like Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, Josh Groban, Shakira, Pitbull, and Toronto’s own Drake. In November she appeared on Saturday Night Live, joining Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock for a performance of “Pay For It”, a song she co-wrote and is featured on. “I go to a place of just letting go and writing something that I would never write for me,” Kreviazuk said of writing for other artists. “So it’s incredibly cathartic and fun.”

“I Will Be” is the latest release that was penned and performed by Kreviazuk. The song explores issues of depression and despair, hope and support. She released the track in partnership with Kids Help Phone, Canada’s 24-hour, bilingual, anonymous phone and web counseling referral service for children and youth. Kreviazuk reports that the reaction to the song to date has been “overwhelmingly positive”.

Kreviazuk’s affiliation with Kids Help Phone is in no way her first foray into philanthropy. In fact, the singer and her husband, Raine Maida (lead singer of alternative rock band, Our Lady Peace), were recently appointed to the Order of Canada in recognition of their musical contributions and humanitarian work. They are well known for their dedication to War Child, a charity that aids children living in conflict zones. Kraviazuk says that the pair’s work together brings them even closer, stating, “when we’re talking about an issue where we can see progress, or where we’re a part of something that seems to be growing or have hope, or where we feel compassion. That’s a great place to put your time.”

Tickets for this performance start at $44 for adults and $42 for students and seniors. $5 eyeGO tickets are available for high school students with valid ID. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. Tickets are available at the River Run Box Office at 519-763-3000, or online at riverrun.ca/chantal-kreviazuk/
