GUELPH, ON November 15, 2019 – Rock ’n’ roll icon Burton Cummings continues building on his legendary career. The Canadian Music Hall of Fame member presents an evening of his timeless hits at River Run Centre during Burton Cummings: Up Close and Alone on Friday, November 29, at 8 p.m. The Main Stage performance is presented as part of the Guelph Infiniti Music Series.

“Jam-packed with numerous hits by The Guess Who and from his solo career, interspersed with stories behind his best-known songs,” The Daily Courier says of Burton Cummings: Up Close and Alone.

In addition to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Cummings is a member of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and a six-time Juno Award winner. He first rose to prominence as lead singer and songwriter in The Guess Who, producing an unprecedented string of hits during the 1960s and 1970s. Songs including These Eyes, Laughing, No Time, American Woman, Share the Land, Albert Flasher and Clap for the Wolfman made The Guess Who Canada’s original rock ’n’ roll superstars.

Since releasing his first solo album, Stand Tall, in 1976, Cummings has produced more than a dozen hit singles and recordings including My Own Way to Rock, I Will Play a Rhapsody, Timeless Love, Break it to Them Gently, Dream of a Child and Fine State of Affairs. Cummings’ many hits with The Guess Who and as a solo artist have earned him a total of 80 platinum and gold records.

Toronto-based rock band the The Carpet Frogs will present an unplugged performance to open the show. Known for outstanding renditions of hits from the 1950s to 1970s, The Carpet Frogs have backed some of Canada’s most prominent musicians during a more than two-decade career.
