GUELPH, ON December 11, 2015 – Warm up your vocal cords and get ready to celebrate the 50th anniversary of a film classic at River Run Centre. Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is presented on the Main Stage on Sunday, December 27, at 2 p.m. as part of the RBC Showcase Series presented by River Run Centre.

A unique blend of film and theatre, Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is a one-of-a-kind musical event featuring a screening of the classic 1965 Julie Andrews film The Sound of Music in full-screen technicolor, complete with subtitles so the audience can sing along. The fun-filled show starts with a vocal warm-up led by the afternoon’s host, who will also take the audience through their complimentary “magic moments pack,” which contains props to be used at strategic points throughout the film.

Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music also includes a famed “fancy-dress competition,” which features audience members wearing Sound of Music-inspired costumes invited onstage to show off their creations. Wearing a costume to the performance is encouraged.

Launched in the United Kingdom in 1999, Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music has become a worldwide sensation, playing to packed houses around the globe. The production has been staged more than 10,000 times in 11 countries, in cities including New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne and Dublin.

As ABC World News Tonight put it: “If you’ve always wanted to be a part of a musical, this is your chance.”
