Famed singer-songwriters Quartette perform A Quartette Christmas Friday, December 18

GUELPH, ON December 4, 2015 – Four of Canada’s most accomplished singer-songwriters will help celebrate the holiday season at River Run Centre when Quartette performs A Quartette Christmas on the Main Stage Friday, December 18, at 8 p.m. The seasonal show is presented as part of the Richardson GMP Music Series presented by River Run Centre.

Distinguished artists whose influences include blues, gospel, folk, country, jazz and pop, the members of Quartette – Cindy Church, Caitlin Hanford, Gwen Swick and Sylvia Tyson – are no strangers to celebrating the holiday. Their Christmas performances are a tradition across the country and the group has released two Christmas albums, It’s Christmas! in 1996 and I See a Star in 2002. Quartette also starred in the Country Music Television special A Quartette Christmas.

During a more than two-decade career, the members of Quartette have won critical acclaim and countless fans for their rich harmonies and diverse repertoire. The group has released a total of six recordings and toured from coast to coast, playing theatres, folk festivals, with symphonies and on radio, including two appearances on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion.

“Free of glitzy ornamentation, Tyson and crew float through their own finely crafted folk, country, gospel, cajun and bluegrass compositions with a simple grace rarely found in contemporary music,” Toronto’s Now Magazine said in a review.

Quartette’s most recent recording, 2013’s Rocks and Roses, marked the group’s 20th anniversary with a new collection of original songs. The group’s recordings also include the 1994 self-titled album Quartette, 1995’s Work of the Heart, 1998’s In the Beauty of the Day and 2007’s Down at the Fair. Quartette are Canadian Country Music Award winners and multiple-time Juno Award nominees.

Tickets to see A Quartette Christmas start at $34 for adults and $32 for seniors. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. $5 eyeGO tickets are available to high school students with valid ID.
