Critically acclaimed group performs at River Run Centre Friday, April 8

GUELPH, ON March 22, 2016 – Inspired by Dixieland jazz, Grand Ole Opry honky tonk and the roots of rock ‘n’ roll, The Devin Cuddy Band is making a musical mark all its own. The critically acclaimed group will perform in River Run Centre’s Co-operators Hall on Friday, April 8, at 8 p.m. as part of the Borealis Music Series.

Channeling musical influences from the past, Cuddy adds a country twist and dash of distinctive Canadiana to his music, creating a unique sound that’s won over audiences from coast to coast. Since first arriving on the Toronto music scene in 2010, he has gained a reputation as a talented songwriter and captivating live performer.

“A good-time sound, a few laughs, lots of rollicking playing, great music to groove to,” Now Magazine said of The Devin Cuddy Band.

Consisting of Nichol Robertson on guitar, Zach Sutton on drums, Devon Richardson on bass and Cuddy on piano and vocals, The Devin Cuddy Band released its first album, Volume One, in 2012, earning a Juno Award nomination in the roots and traditional album of the year category. The band’s second album, Kitchen Knife, was released in 2014 to critical and audience acclaim.

As the son of one of Canada’s most beloved singer-songwriters – Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo – Cuddy learned the importance of quality songwriting and honing his craft in front of live audiences. Through thoughtful songs and powerful live performances, he has won admiration for a style all his own, effortlessly blending the blues, jazz and country genres.
