Boreal brings their adored seasonal show to River Run Centre
GUELPH, ON November 26, 2025 —The lovely ladies of Boreal return to Guelph to ring in the holidays with their signature harmonies and uplifting spirit. Part of Borealis Music Series, the talented trio of Tannis Slimmon, Katherine Wheatley, and Angie Nussey bring Boreal’s Songs for a Snowy Season to River Run Centre’s Main Stage on Friday, December 19 at 7 p.m.
These three accomplished singer-songwriters have a lot of love for making music together, for the holiday season, and for spreading joy. Through mesmerizing melodies and heartfelt songwriting, Boreal takes their audience on a journey of friendship, laughter, and connection. This show is at once powerful and poignant, shining a warm light each December.
Boreal tours Canadian cities each winter, presenting a mixture of beloved traditional songs as well as some of their original favourites. Their most recent record, Winterbirds, was released earlier this year and is quickly gaining critical acclaim recently receiving three 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award nominations: Album of the Year, Ensemble of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year. It is the trio’s first album with Angie Nussey, who joined in 2019. Audiences at the show can expect a festive mix of original Winterbirds songs and timeless Christmas classics.
Prior to this year’s annual winter tour, Boreal has been playing across Ontario and Manitoba promoting Winterbirds and playing older favourites at various venues and festivals, such as Toronto’s Acoustic Harvest. As Angie Nussey says, “We’re comfortable playing any time of year. We have enough material to do anything now, and that’s really empowering for a band.” In addition to Songs for a Snowy Season, the ladies have a spring tour called Songs of Renewal.
This wonderfully wintry show is generously supported by Series Sponsor Borealis Grille & Bar, Season Sponsor Richardson Wealth, and support from the Government of Canada.
Tickets to Boreal’s Songs for a Snowy Season are $30 for adults, $28 for patrons over 60 years old, and $25 for those under 30. Subscribe & Save 20% when you buy tickets to four or more shows.
