Boreal brings holiday cheer to River Run Centre Friday, December 9

GUELPH, ON November 25, 2016 – Guelph songstresses Jude Vadala, Katherine Wheatley and Tannis Slimmon will welcome winter at River Run Centre when Boreal performs Songs for a Snowy Season on Friday, December 9, at 8 p.m. The Co-operators Hall performance is presented as part of the Borealis Music Series.

Through outstanding harmonies, brilliant songwriting and beautiful lyrics, the singers of Boreal celebrate the coming of winter and the beauty of the season. Their performance of holiday classics will include well-known songs such as I’ll be Home for Christmas and Silent Night, as well as original compositions.

Songs for a Snowy Season had its origin nearly a decade ago when the members of Boreal gathered to perform their first holiday concert. The seasonal show was a success and has since become an annual Guelph tradition. The group’s debut album, Winter’s Welcome, was released in 2014.

While busy with their individual careers, Vadala, Wheatley and Slimmon love to share the stage each year. Songs for a Snowy Season is a holiday homecoming they always look forward to. “Harmonies have the power to make me cry,” Slimmon says. “Digging in to a sweet harmony, particularly with voices as comfortable to sing with as Jude and Katherine’s, brings me much joy.”

Well-known on the Guelph music scene for three decades, Vadala’s musical adventures have taken her across North America with the critically acclaimed group The Bird Sisters. Wheatley is a successful solo singer-songwriter, as well as a member of the eclectic musical group Betty and The Bobs. Slimmon, recognized as one of Canada’s best roots music singers, has been performing for 30 years.
