Pre-show Information for Teachers
Hockey sticks, tin cans, pans and bicycle tubes become instruments in an interactive musical production designed to engage young audiences in environmental issues. CréaSon – The Eco-Logical Show! performs songs and tracks during an imaginative and fun-filled performance to suggest ideas and actions which kids can take to reduce their ecological footprint.
Questions/ Suggested Discussion Points
- The City of Guelph provides information about waste diversion and other waste reduction activities (http://guelph.ca/living/garbage-and-recycling/). You can also schedule a tour of the Waste Diversion Education Centre.
- The Wellington County website has information about recycling (http://www.wellington.ca/en/Garbage-and-Recycling.asp). Another option to recycling is re-using or re-purposing items. Wellington County has some suggestions here.
- Task students to re-purpose an item intended for the waste stream. Making a musical instrument is one idea, but challenge students to be creative!
