Pre-Show Information for Teachers
Enviro Drum is a percussion group comprised of professional musicians who take their love of music and couple it with a passion for preserving the environment. Using only recyclable products as percussion instruments, the group performs different styles of music while presenting environmental statistics in a fun and engaging manner. All instruments are, of course, recyclable.
Questions/Suggested Discussion Points
- The City of Guelph provides information about waste diversion and other waste reduction activities (http://guelph.ca/living/garbage-and-recycling/). You can also schedule a tour of the Waste Diversion Education Centre – learn more.
- The Wellington County website has information about recycling – learn more. Another option to recycling is re-using or re-purposing items. Wellington County has some suggestions (http://www.wellington.ca/en/residentservices/reuseoptions.asp).
- Task students to re-purpose an item intended for the waste stream. Making a musical instrument is one idea, but challenge students to be creative!
