Guelph Spoken Word is proud to announce the 2016 return of its showcase spoken word event, the ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL POETRY SLAM!
This single-day, all-day competition is unlike any other in the world, featuring top-notch local and international talent, a professional two-stage venue, custom slam rules, incredible intensity packed into a single day, and a HUGE cash purse of $5,000 minimum.
Your ticket is your full-access pass to events throughout the day, including the final main stage event at 8 pm as well as four preliminary elimination bouts.

• preliminary elimination bout #1 runs at 1 pm
• preliminary elimination bouts #2 and #3 run concurrently on two stages @ 3:30 pm
• the GRAND SLAM FINALS start at 8 pm in the Co-operators Hall

To help spread the love of spoken word competition to a wider audience, we are pleased to announce that there is free audience admission to the afternoon elimination bouts at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to check out the slam poetry scene and watch how the audience selects the best nine poets of the competition to advance to the grand slam final stage.
If you like what you hear and want to see the competition unfold in the finals, you can purchase a $25 grand slam ticket directly from the River Run Centre box office.
Free seats are limited, and are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
