Multi-talented entertainer performs in Co-operators Hall Friday, November 20

GUELPH, ON November 4, 2015 – Award-winning singer and songwriter Amy Sky will showcase her music with a message during a performance at River Run Centre on Friday, November 20, at 8 p.m. Sky performs in Co-operators Hall as part of the Borealis Music Series presented by River Run Centre.

Celebrated for her vocal talent, dynamic performances and hit songs, Sky’s credits include writing for Reba McEntire, Diana Ross, Olivia Newton-John, Anne Murray, Natalie McMaster, The Rankin Family and many others. She is a Juno Award nominee and SOCAN Award winner.

Currently in the midst of recording a new album, Sky’s River Run Centre appearance offers a rare opportunity to see her perform live in 2015. Accompanied by her four-piece band, she will showcase original songs from her latest recordings, Forever Blue and Namaste, both released in 2014, and Alive and Awake, released in 2013.

Sky holds a belief that “art can be tremendously healing.” She is a well-known mental health advocate and activist who in 2006 went public about her own struggles with depression. Her recent trilogy of recordings are together a beautiful, cohesive collection of songs that explore themes of faith, hope and recovery.

A talented actress, Sky has also found success on the stage. She co-starred with Margot Kidder and Maggie Cassella in a Toronto production of The Vagina Monologues and performed in the hit musical Blood Brothers at Royal Alexandra Theatre. She has also starred in two hour-long television specials, CTV’s Amy Sky: Songs of the Heart and Bravo’s An Evening with Amy Sky and Marc Jordan.

Sky also lends her support to many charities and causes, including the Parkinson’s Foundation, Princess Margaret Hospital, Ovarian Cancer Canada, The Hospital for Sick Children, Easter Seals, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and child abuse prevention.

“For more than 25 years, Amy Sky hasn’t stopped writing, performing and recording,” writer Dave Gordon said in a review. “In project after project, endeavour after endeavour, she has found unique ways to channel her creative energies.”
