Music Works Stage Works Youth in the Spotlight promotional

Welcome to MusicWorks|StageWorks 2021!

This year’s youth mentorship program offered aspiring performers real life experience in putting together online performances. Performers worked with us on concept development, production and performance techniques, along with insights into how to record performances at home that captivate audiences and highlight their abilities.

A BIG thank you to our special guest mentors for the program, Royal Castles and Bird City

MusicWorks|StageWorks 2021 Performer Bios

Jaxon Anderson describes his performance as emotional, bright and energetic. In grades six to eight, he played the flute, then started playing the guitar in grade 10. He likes how he is able to express the emotions of the song through singing.

Tori Clemens is an experienced performer who enjoys playing many genres of music with guitar and solo vocals. Over the years, she has performed at several venues around Guelph and has continued performing online during the pandemic. She hopes to continue honing her musical skills and to produce music both as a solo artist and with her band.

Express is a punk band from Guelph, Ontario. Cameron, Nick, & Jacob were good friends long before they started out as a band 4 years ago. From then on they have written and performed their own original songs and have recorded an EP. Express has played many gigs, such as MusicWorks|StageWorks, Hillside, various Jam School showcases, and even their own gigs.

For four years, Lauryn Hayden participated in musical performances at school, in her community, and now, online. She performed in musicals (including Annie and Alice in Wonderland) and plans on becoming an actress on Broadway in future years. This performance of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road has been an exciting experience for her, and she can’t wait to use these newfound skills in the near future.

Liam Kovich’s performance of Moonlight Reflections/Silver Isles is an entirely improvised piece in a contemporary classical style. Moonlight Reflections is an emotive piano solo piece utilizing some jazz harmonies; leading directly into the tumultuous Silver Isles, which makes use of multi-track recording. While Liam performs primarily as a solo pianist, Liam is excited that MusicWorks|StageWorks has given him a chance to realize a larger project on his own terms.

18 year old Emma Mackaracher has been doing theatre and singing ever since a young age. This includes performing in theatre camps, school productions, talent shows, and the RCMPI production of “Annie” in 2018. She also participated in MusicWorks|StageWorks ever since she was 12 years old. Singing is her passion, it makes her feel most happy. She feels like she can express her emotions with music.

Soulful, strong and hopeful, Olivia Mueller’s performance combines a message of hope with the importance of faith and perseverance. Having previous experience performing in community musicals, school plays and music academy recitals, she is excited for this performance because it’s an amazing opportunity for her to step out of her comfort zone and try something new!

At only 17, Noah Nogueira is already an accomplished entertainer. Noah performs family-friendly magic, juggling & comedy shows. He has performed for thousands at over 50 paid performances at events such as the Secret Show series, Black Tie Bingo – Le Cirque gala, and Snyder’s Farm.

Hannah Rosario has always had a passion for the arts and continues to share her talents through her school’s coffeehouses, music events, and online videos. Her performance consists of songs that each mark a piece of her high school experience: Show Choir Canada in 2018, teenage romance, and senior year.

Isabella Urban’s performance is centered on musical theatre, singing a song about a kid who ponders whether this is his destiny: to never be noticed, and to not matter for the rest of his life. Isabella describes herself as a huge music nerd, so she likes to do any performance she can. From choir, band, to solo performances, she tries to seize the opportunities she finds to become more comfortable with performing.
