Matt Zaddy returns to River Run Centre with dynamic, full band performance
GUELPH, ON February 1, 2024 – Spend a soulful evening with award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Zaddy on Friday, February 23 at 8 p.m. River Run Centre presents this show as part of the Borealis Music Series, which features singers, songwriters, and storytellers. Matt Zaddy tops the list in each category and delivers a performance of heartfelt stories told through beautiful harmonies.
Matt Zaddy is a storyteller at heart. His heartwarming sense of humour and optimism shine through even as he sings the joys and sorrows of love, hardship, and redemption. With a hint of country twang and a healthy dose of modern soul, Zaddy’s original mix of folk rock and rhythm and blues brings the sweetest, warmest sounds of Canadiana to the stage.
This current tour supports Matt Zaddy’s most recent single release, What Comes Around, which came out in June 2023. The single follows Zaddy’s 2019 award-winning album, Be. MobYorkCity calls the record, “…such a find; it’s legitimate, to a fault in some respects, and never afraid to bear a lot of heart to us in its exceptionally vulnerable moments… Matt Zaddy’s Be is definitely a standout among all of its best contemporaries.”
Matt Zaddy’s songwriting and vocal talents have earned him four Mississauga Arts Awards (the MARTY Award), including most recently in 2021 for Established Solo Vocalist. Zaddy is a Mississauga local and has also received the award for Best Promoter in 2019, for his community event series. Active locally as he supports community events, Zaddy is equally comfortable under the big lights, sharing the stage with artists such as K’Naan, Tom Cochrane, Jim Cuddy, The Trews, Cowboy Junkies, and more.
Matt Zaddy’s intention is to connect with as many listeners as possible, regardless of genre boundaries. His music possesses everything to achieve that goal, making Zaddy one of Canada’s most promising singer-songwriters to watch.
The February 23 performance takes place in River Run Centre’s Studio Theatre. The evening features a full band playing Matt Zaddy’s original songs as well as his take on popular music, with a focus on Canadian content. The show is presented as part of the 2023/24 RESOUNDING Season, sponsored by Richardson Wealth, delivering something for everyone.
