Guelph Jazz Festival 2021: Jim Lewis & Jean Martin

Tickets on sale September 1, 2021

Presented by Guelph Jazz Festival

Toronto drummer Jean Martin is a linchpin in the field of improvised music in Canada. As a performer, mixing engineer, producer, and the driving force behind Barnyard Records, he has been a key contributor to countless creative music projects that have served to shape the field as we know it. In recent years, his live instrumental setup, employed principally as part of singer Tanya Tagaq’s touring group, has combined acoustic drumkit with live electronics. Here, he is paired with long-time collaborator, trumpeter Jim Lewis, whose endlessly inventive melodism is likewise complemented by live electronics. Contemporary electroacoustic music, spontaneously composed and animated by two of Canada’s greats.
